Notes

  1. Four DIMMs of the same size form a group.
  2. For 750MHz and 900MHz system boards, the minimum memory is eight DIMMS in groups A0 and B0.
  3. For 1050MHz and higher system boards, the minimum memory is sixteen DIMMs in groups A0, A1, B0, and B1.
  4. DIMMs must be added four-at-a-time within the same group of DIMM slots; every fourth slot belongs to the same DIMM group.
  5. Whenever possible, have each group consist of four DIMMs from the same manufacturing vendor.
  6. DIMM groups associated with a failed CPU are unavailable for use.
  7. Interleaving is limited to memory on the same CPU/Memory Board.
  8. Two-way interleaving occurs in any group when the DIMM size does not match the size used in any other group.
  9. Four-way interleaving occurs between any two groups when the DIMM sizes are the same.
  10. Eight-way interleaving occurs when the DIMMs in all four groups are the same size.
  11. 1GB DIMM FRU F540-5086, which includes 501-6109, was released in October 2001.
  12. 1GB DIMM FRU F501-6109 replaced F540-5086 in December 2003.
  13. 1GB DIMMs are not supported on 750MHz CPU/Memory boards in Sun Fire V880.
  14. 128MB DIMMs are only supported on 750MHz CPU/Memory boards in Sun Fire V880.
